Working single-mindedly on transforming the air transport community through technology to achieve cost-effectiveness and operational efficiency, the client’s customer range includes airlines, airports, aerospace companies, GDSs, air traffic management organizations, air freight businesses, governments, and international organizations. As of now, the client has around 400 air transport members worldwide.
Client Challenges
- The client was using a legacy Passenger Servicing System (PSS) which was built on the mainframe technology thirty years ago
- They were also without newer applications which could replace traditional PNR data store and use customer profiles and customer journey information more strategically
These shortcomings put the client face-to-face with the following challenges-
- Complex and time-consuming legacy system development
- Lack of necessary testing guidelines and checklists
- Insufficient processes to track the testing progress or coverage
As a result, the client was not able to
- Widen market share to increase revenues/profits
- Attract tier 2 network carriers
- Quantify the testing impact on the application improvement
- Provide a snippet of engagement and project level information for data-backed decision making
Our Solutions
- After the preliminary analysis of the client’s infrastructure, we proposed a total upgrade of the existing setup
- We advocated the new PSS system which would assure process efficiency and compliance adherence
- While designing and implementing it, we were deeply engaged with the client across functional areas such as reservation, baggage management, and flight operations
The systems replaced and developed by Futurism are:
- Departure Control System: New departure control system with share PNR concept along with reservation system. We integrated it with weight and balance, seating and other applications
- Seating: An application was designed to put managed seat maps in a common repository. They were made accessible to reservation, DCS and inventory teams
- Weight & Balance:It was designed for carriers to ease the load planning. It was then integrated with DCS and baggage handling using industry accepted messaging standards
- Payments: Centralized services for payment integration across payment gateways along with value-add services like currency conversion, 3D secure and address verification
- ESB: To facilitate the integration of COTS for quick turnaround time, ESB framework was implemented
- Agent Reservation Desktop: Advance ticketing, stored fares, and new user interface to enhance the system
- Next Generation GUI Framework: End to end enterprise framework development with rich user interface features and extended JSF and Swing components
- Business and Technical Utilities: Business utilities were developed for location manager. Components for reference data manager were built on the SOA framework along with technical utilities to support the solutions for error manager, audit manager, messaging framework
- Customer Journey Archival: Ensured synchronization and recollection of data between Legacy and Open systems in near real-time
- Customer Profile: Created a centralized platform to store all customer profiles and rate customer value for the airline or subscriber
